Hello everyone:
Lemuel here. I wanted to follow up on a question that came up during my presentation for which I provided incorrect information. The question was: Can an artist organization in the roster that is incorporated as a 501c3 organization apply for funding through the Oklahoma Arts Council? I answered “no” and, while this only applies to a handful of you, I wanted to give you the right answer. So here it is…
An artists organization that is on the roster and is incorporated as a 501c3 nonprofit in the state of Oklahoma IS eligible to apply for funding through the Oklahoma Arts Council. The organization’s project must of course meet grant guidelines and the organization would need to secure matching funds through earned or contributed income. Good examples of eligible projects would be outreach or community performances open to the public.
When I answered no, I was processing the information as if the question was coming from an individual artist. The answer to that one is still no. An individual artist or un-incorporated artist group is not eligible to apply for a grant through the Oklahoma Arts Council.
Please e-mail me any other questions that were left unanswered and I’ll be glad to answer those for you either through e-mail or on the new blog.
Lemuel
